Unimpressed by ‘absurd’ proposals, Ukraine faces complicated negotiations – analysis

The cautious response from Ukraine’s presidential administration followed angry denunciations of the plan by some Ukrainian officials who called it “absurd” and unacceptable.
But American diplomats said donald trump he was trying to achieve peace “with an incredible sense of momentum.”
His administration was following an “aggressive schedule” with the Ukrainians to reach an agreement, they added, and I wanted to achieve this in the “shortest possible” period.
The White House said the plan was “good” for both sidesrejecting concerns that it echoes many of Moscow’s demands.
Authorities in Kyiv were not impressed. They said the proposal – supposedly created by Kirill Dmitrieva close ally of Vladimir Putinand special envoy of Donald Trump Steve Witkoff – it was a “provocation” aimed at provoking division and “disorienting” Ukraine’s alliesthey added.
